DID YOU KNOW OUR CONSTITUTION WAS BASED ON THE IROQUOIS CONSTITUTION?
While editing an essay for my smart granddaughter, I found I
wanted more info on the subject than a 1 pager can produce. So, I started
researching and found--quote:
So much of what is taught in our schools as United States
history is a weaving of distorted facts and presented to our
students as the truth. One of the functions of the American
Indian Education Center is to reveal true American history,
especially as it pertains to the part of that history played
by the indigenous people of this land. The following is an
example of that true, undistorted history and gives a flavor
of the profound part that Native Americans played in the
evolution of the United States and it's government.
The story of the influence of the Iroquois Constitution on the
founding fathers and the United States Constitution is one
that is still not generally known. On September 16, 1987, the
U.S. Senate passed a resolution officially stating that the U.
S. Constitution was modeled after the Iroquois Constitution,
the Great Law of Peace. In truth, without the Iroquois, the
U.S. government might be far different.
SEQ CHAPTER \h \r 1There are those who believe that the early
leaders of the thirteen colonies stole their constitution from
the First Peoples of this land, namely, the Iroquois
Confederacy. This is only partly true. On July 4, 1744, the
Onondaga chief Canassatego attended a meeting between the
Indians and the British in Lancaster Pennsylvania, in which he
urged the British to replace their colonial form of government
with something more reasonable and workable.. As later
reported by Dr. Cadwalder Colden, after listening respectfully
to the proceedings for some time Canassatego requested
permission to speak. And he said,
My friends, I am honored that you have invited me to your
gathering of leaders. I have listened to your words, and I
have heard them. You have been arguing amongst yourselves and
have walked the same ground many times over without finding
ground upon which you can stand together.
I have a suggestion which may help you. We of the Five
Nations of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Confederacy, by
following the same path, have stood together for many seasons,
and have become strong and have lived as one people. The
people of the Five Nations of our Confederacy have formed,
from equal contributions of each of the Five Nations, one
head, one body and one thought, and have thus formed a Great
Peace among us. By following the words of Deganwidah, the
Peace Maker, we have mended our differences and become
powerful. If you would only follow our example, you too would
become a powerful people. It is easy to snap in two a single
arrow. With a bundle of arrows, all held tightly together, it
is impossible.
&... The minutes of this meeting were later committed
to print by the man who would come to be known as the Father
of the United States Constitution … Benjamin Franklin.
The following site lists details of both the Iroquois Constitution and the
US Constitution. IMO, fascinating history and one helpful to know.

ISRAEL IS ...
... HARD ON MY MIND and brought back a memory.
The prize doesn't always go to the most deserving....
BE SURE TO READ THE CARTOON AND MESSAGE BELOW 63 YEARS LATER.
The prize doesn't always go to the most deserving....
Irena Sendler
There recently was a death of a 98 year-old lady named Irena. During WWII, Irena, got permission to work in the Warsaw Ghetto, as a Plumbing/Sewer specialist. She had an 'ulterior motive' ......She KNEW what the Nazi's plans were for the Jews, (being German.) Irena smuggled infants out in the bottom of the tool box she carried and she carried in the back of her truck a burlap sack, (for larger kids..) She also had a dog in the back that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the ghetto. The soldiers of course wanted nothing to do with the dog and the barking covered the kids/infants noises....During her time of doing this, she managed to smuggle out and save 2500 kids/infants. She was caught, and the Nazi's broke both her legs, arms and beat her severely. Irena kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out and kept them in a glass jar, buried under a tree in her back yard. After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived in order to reunite the family; most had been gassed. Those kids she helped got placed into foster family homes or adopted. Recently, Irena was up for the Nobel Peace Prize ... She was not selected, but Al Gore and Barack Obama were. Al Gore won for a slide show on Global Warming and Barack Obama won for a speech on peace. I guess the world forgot!
Please read the little cartoon carefully, it's powerful.
In MEMORIAM - 63 YEARS LATER
It is now more than 60 years after World War II in Europe ended. I am posting this in memory of the 20 million Russians, 10 million Christians, 6 million Jews and 1,900 Catholic priests who were murdered, massacred, raped, burned and starved with many of the world's people looking the other way!
Now, more than ever, with extremist Muslims claiming the Holocaust to be 'a myth,' it's imperative to make sure the world never forgets, because Muslim extremists are trying to do it again. I'm doing my small part by posting this message. I hope you'll consider doing the same.
REMINDER: Be sure to read the little cartoon carefully, it's powerful. Then reread these ending comments. I'm doing my small part by posting this message. I hope you'll consider doing the same.

LOOKING BACK ...
... and looking forward is a pastime I sometimes indulge in just to make certain my feet are firmly grounded in the present. The past was a great learning time and the future is a place for dreams to come true. As for the present--it seems to be a "waiting" time. For what? Hummm...that is an interesting question to solve and if done properly, will take more than a minute or two to answer.
Elleanor Roosevelt (1884-1962), a woman of wisdom yet many times reviled, once said: "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift; that's why they call it the present."

WHAT A STRANGE WORLD ...
... our planet has become. It all seems so hostile and foreign as if all the beauty that we were has been squeezed out of us one drop at a time. We are bombarded with clips and videos of death and destruction while the wonder of a "super moon" flashed by with practically no notice. I nearly missed the glory of that happening. The weather seemed determined to keep round brilliance hidden--storm clouds boiled and rain poured as if to emphasize the dark misery enveloping our world. True, 3 days of being trapped behind that darkness gave our companion time to distance itself, but even so, it retained its round shining long enough for me to give thanks that at least that familiar object had retained its position in our lives, still gave light if we took the time to look. An anchor to cling to. All is well. God has not left us after all. Not yet anyway.
